How to make Lavender & Rose Sachets

How to make a sachet.

An organza sachet to hold potpourri, rose petals or lavender flowers. Use it to scent your linens, drawers, pillows or as a wedding favor and gift. The organza you choose should be fine enough not to allow the potpourri/lavender/rosebuds to fall out of it.

Refresh your sachet intermittently by scenting it with a drop of essential, fragrance oil or spray with your favorite perfume.

Materials

10" square of organza
1/4 Cup lavender flowers,
1/4 Cup of dried rose petals
7/8" wide sheer ribbon
1 drop of fragrance oil or perfume
silk lotus or water lily
Fabri-tac fabric glue

Additional Supplies:

Scissors
Iron
Fusible Web
Needle/thread
Sewing Machine -Using a sewing machine will be a great advantage when making these sachets. However, you will be able to make them using a needle and thread or with fusible webbing too.

Instructions
1. Fold the 10" organza square in half and cut it. Fold each half in half again and cut them. You will use only 3 of the 4 pieces.

2. Fold each organza section in half, making a rectangle shape and iron it. Sew one short side and one long side. With one side folded over, sewing the others should make a tube shape with the top open. If you don't have a sewing machine, you may stitch the sides by hand or insert fusible web and iron them together.

3. Fold the organza tubes inside out, so the seam is on the inside. Stuff each one with equal amounts of lavender and rose petals until they are plump. Be sure to scent your contents first by using a drop of fragrance oil. This works best if you mix the lavender, unscented potpourri, dried rose buds or rose petals in a bowl after you have scented it.

4. Turn the top section in to create a finished edge. If you are fusing it : Insert a small piece of fusible web and apply a hot iron to seal the end. Or hand sew it closed.

5. Find the center of the ribbon and place it under one of the small pillow shaped sachets. Stack the other two on top of it and tie the ribbon around all three. Knot the ribbon on top and tie a bow. Trim the ends of the ribbon in a V shape.

6. Optional: Add a few beads to each corner and place a floating lotus or silk flower head on the top. Glue in place with Fabri-tac glue
