How to Make Confetti Eggs, also known as Cascarones.
Festive cascarones are believed to date back to romantic Renaissance days
when Italian gentlemen filled emptied eggshells with perfume or cologne and
tossed them to women as a sign of affection. Nowadays, children "bump"
the fragile eggs on the heads of others and make a wish. If the eggshell breaks
and showers the recipient with confetti, it is said the wish will come true.
Materials needed:
Instructions:
| 1. Gently tap the top of an egg.
|
|
| 2. Peel away just a small 1/2
inch hole. |
|
| 3. Empty contents of the egg out into
a bowl. |
|
| 4. Thoroughly rinse the egg and shake out
excess water. Let the egg dry. |
|
| 3. Dye the eggs using the
egg dying kit. |
| 5. When the eggs are dry
fill with confetti. |
|
6. Glue the hole in the
egg with tissue paper and finish decorating.
