How to make a flower heart wreath

GRACE YOUR TRIP DOWN THE AISLE WITH ROMANTIC HEART-SHAPED wreaths on the pews. Though they are quick and easy to make and less expensive than real flowers, these faux-flower wreaths will transform the aisle into an enchanting walkway. Because they are designed with silk flowers, the wreaths can be made long before the wedding. For best results, select flowers that have clusters of small blossoms covering the upper third of the stem, such as the delphiniums shown here.

After the ceremony, the wreaths can be transported to the reception to dress up the bridal party chairs, gift table, or wedding cake table. Check with the site managers for their regulations on hanging decorations. Many will not allow you to use tape but may allow removable adhesive hooks that are specially made not to damage wood.

materials

EACH WREATH

Two silk flower stems, about 30" (76 cm) long for each wreath
Additional small silk flower for color or texture (optional)
1 yd. (0.92 m) ribbon for each wreath
Floral wire; wire cutter
Hot glue gun

1. Bend the top of the stem down to the bottom; wrap several times with floral wire to secure. Repeat for the other flower stems. The wrapped ends will become the bottom of the heart.

2. Place one stem on top of the other. Wire them together in several places.

3. Bend the center of the top to form a heart shape. If necessary remove leaves and reattach them across the heart top, using hot glue. Secure additional flower heads in any bare spots.

4. Form a small wire loop for hanging the wreath at the center top. Wrap ribbon around the base of the hanging loop, and tie it in a bow
