3D Butterflies
Our dimensional butterfly take flight as you release the card from its envelope.
Many Hero Arts butterfly images can be made using this technique. Use your
imagination to create butterflies in natural colors or use a contemporary
palette to reflect today's colors.
Instructions:
Folded Card Instructions:
1. Stamp several Shadow Stamp
images on white card stock to form a background. Stamp the open blocks by inking
just the edges before stamping.
2. Trim card to fit on blue
card with 1/2" border. Ink the edge of the Shadow Stamp with Soft Celery
Shadow Ink and stamp a small edge around the card.
3. Stamp a small border around
the blue card in the above manner.
4. Stamp the butterflies where
you like in preparation for creating the 3-D versions. Set aside card.
3-D Butterfly Instructions:
1. Stamp 3 butterflies with
black ink on a piece of white cardstock.
2. Color butterflies with
colored pencils. (Optionally, image, fill in the rest of the image in the same
manner overlapping colors of Shadow Inks.
3. Cut out butterflies without
the antennas. Fold two butterflies in half vertically, with the stamped sides
together on the inside, and blank white on the outside.
4. Using the blank white sides
only, place glue on the right panel of one butterfly and adhere it to the left
panel of a second butterfly. Place glue on the right panel of the second
butterfly and adhere it to the left panel of the 3rd butterfly.
5. Get your Shadow-Tone card.
Attach the blank white side of the first and third butterfly wings to your
stamped butterfly image, being sure to cover up the wings of the stamped image,
leaving only the antennas showing.
6. Repeat steps 1-5 of the 3-D
Butterfly section for each butterfly.
